...And more

Hier een intro over …en meer.

Theater show

On Thursday the 28th of September the Universiteit van Nederland delivers a first with ‘Wetenschap voor iedereen’, live theater lectures given by top scientists. No long academic talks, but interactive stories that not only educate you but will also make you smile. Sometimes something seemingly mundane could suddenly be very valuable when you look at it from a scientific perspective.

With a game of ‘The Stanley Parable’ cultural theologist Frank G. Bosman (Tilburg University) lets us think about whether we are really as free as we think we are. Are our choices bases on free will? Or is this merely an illusion and is everything predetermined?

Sigrid Hemels, professor taxation law (Erasmus University Rotterdam), guides us through the world of inheritance tax. One of the most hated taxes, but is it really that unfair?

Good to know…

Tickets are for two days and include an elaborate streetfood dinner, drinks and the entrance to the Theater lectures (on Thursday September 28).

Trip to space

Since 2010 the mobile and inflatable planetarium has been visiting schools in the Netherlands and abroad. Enter the dome and you will emerge yourself in space. No VR or AR could top that. Take a pillow from inside the planetarium and lean back against the side of the dome. A student of astronomy will show you the interactive planetary show with a quick laptop and special beamer. Time to think of which planet you have always wanted to visit?

Aftertalk with our keynotes

Right after each keynote there is the possibility to continue the conversation with our speakers. Meet them in the speakerscafe!

Peter Wennink - CEO bij ASML
Robbert Dijkgraaf - minister van OCW

Exploring ways to implement well-being support initiatives for students

Student well-being forms the basis of a structure on campus where students flourish and can develop their talents. However, in order to validate interventions and measures, we often lack the indicators to perform online and continuous monitoring of our – often well meant – initiatives. First, the theoretical background on student well-being in terms of Self-Determination Theory as well as practical implications of well-being initiatives are briefly presented. Thereafter, participants are invited to brainstorm about ways to monitor and promote student well-being, and opportunities for cooperation between universities in this important field. All university students and staff are welcome to join!
